Private Lessons

The Youth Academy offers private, semi-private and small group private lessons for students enrolled in any dance genre; ballet, contemporary, jazz, musical theatre and hip-hop. Private instruction is a perfect opportunity to work one on one with your instructor or any of our Youth Academy teaching faculty. The private instructor will focus on the specific needs of each dancer and design the lesson just for them. Private instruction may be recommended as a supplement for Cecchetti Ballet examination candidates.
For private, semi-private and small group private lesson pricing and information please contact Jennifer Forcucci-Marzluf at [email protected].

The Cecchetti Method

The Cecchetti Method of ballet training is a progressive system of training dancers from a pre-ballet beginning level to a professional level. The Cecchetti Method was designed with careful regard to the laws of anatomy to prepare a dancer’s body to bear the physical demands of public performance. The Method embodies qualities that are essential to the dancer; balance, poise, strength, elevation, elasticity, musicality and artistry. Cecchetti USA has established a syllabus of carefully orchestrated exercises that build in complexity ensuring that each new movement is introduced from a fundamental approach. As each movement is mastered and refined, new movements are introduced. This progressive approach with attention to detail has produced a long list of very famous and accomplished dancers. The Cecchetti Method is classic in its purity and clean style and enables dancers to respond to the demands of a variety of choreographers. The Method emphasizes the importance of using the entire body to establish a feeling for line. Focus is on instruction by studying and absorbing the basic principles which govern the art, rather than by mere imitation of an individual’s teaching style. A balance between the daily practice of both Cecchetti’s set exercises and each teacher’s new sequences is essential to producing a well-rounded and versatile dancer.  For more information on Cecchetti USA click here.

We are proud to offer the pedagogy of the Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet under the guidance of Cecchetti USA.

Students at the Youth Academy have the opportunity multiple times throughout the year to take a ballet exam at their appropriate level. Examinations are optional but highly encouraged for students to gain a further sense of accomplishment and understanding of the ballet fundamentals. All students learn the exam material in their regular classes throughout the year and progress through the Cecchetti syllabus whether or not they are taking an exam. Exam candidates will have the opportunity to attend weekend workshops, receive mock examinations, examination day and a celebration of their accomplishments.
